It's finally beginning to feel like winter in Cincinnati on this crisp, clear night. Walking the dimly lit streets in Northside, Cincinnati I walked into a humbly warm environment with the soft sounds of two female vocalist cozied up near the front entrance. The tone is mellow and soulful with a hint of Lily Allen sass. The band is Honey Combs consisting primarily of Caitlin Combs with cameos from her sister. The two singers take turns delivering great lyrics, with a solid favorite of the night, Hello Kitty, while being sure to cover Beyoncé - Drunk in Love, The Postal Service - Such Great Heights, and Lorde - Buzzcut Season. The acoustic renditions lended well to the rustic environment that is Northside Tavern... and the S.N. Pale Ale.
To more nights of walking the streets searching for a story to cover. Until then, there's a last minute stop to Clifton's Tiger Dumpling. A good stop for solid dumplings (pork, chicken or vegetable) at a great price, and if you like spicy, don't forget to grab the hot sauce on your way out.
All photos tonight were captured with my Sony a77 - 35mm f1.8. Sometimes, a little too unforgiving with focus. Live and learn.
